Engineering Software Solutions, LLC Announces PIMS.NET Release in January 2008
Wilmington, North Carolina Sept. 10 -- Engineering Software Solutions, LLC (ESS), a provider of "software as a service"
(SaaS) project control and information management applications to the pharmaceutical industry, today announced that its Microsoft .NET
version of PIMS - the Project Information Management System - will be available for clients in January 2008. PIMS.NET was developed in
order to upgrade and significantly improve the PIMS end-user experience while providing enhanced security, reliability, and performance.
Demand for web-based applications in the Architectural/Engineering/Construction (A/E/C) industry continues to grow, and the success of
ESS's current PIMS application led to the PIMS.NET development project.
"Given our success with PIMS and the positive feedback from clients and end-users, we are excited about the significant enhancements we
can deliver to the end-user experience by upgrading this application to the .NET platform," said John Moehnke, ESS Project Manager.
"The third-party controls we were able to incorporate because of our adoption of .NET allowed us to design a user interface that
surpassed even our expectations. The fact that we could do this and at the same time reap the benefits of improved security and better
performance made this the right decision for us."
Neil Hutchinson, Lead Technical Developer, commented, "PIMS.NET was developed with the Microsoft .NET 2.0
Framework, allowing us to leverage the power and ease of use that Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 provides.
We used Visual SourceSafe 2005 as our code repository and deployed over the internet to allow development
from multiple locations. We also used this opportunity to upgrade our database environment to SQL Server
2005, so the end-result is a significantly improved application environment as well as access to enhanced
services and support tools for the developers."
PIMS - the Project Information Management System - is a web-based project information management
system hosted by Engineering Software Solutions, LLC - a wholly-owned subsidiary of ValSource, LLC.
PIMS provides its users with a customizable approach to A/E/C project management and facilitates the
commissioning and qualification of pharmaceutical plant and equipment while providing a single repository
of project information for the project team. PIMS can act as a project library, allowing owners to catalog
and classify project documentation while providing a collaborative environment for document review and
user sign-off. Through its user-defined workflows for Change Notifications, Punchlists, Action Items,
and Documents it identifies and categorizes work items and ensures the project team is kept up-to-date
on outstanding and upcoming deliverables. Its personalized displays and reporting features allow users
to track project progress and identify issues before they become problems that delay project completion.
