was founded in 2002 in an effort to provide the pharmaceutical industry with
project control and information management applications that address their specific
needs with regard to A/E/C projects. Our mission is to provide secure, cost-effective
solutions for managing information related to the construction, commissioning, and
qualification of pharmaceutical plant and equipment.
Beginnings…
Our parent company ValSource provides quality validation
services to clients who develop, manufacture, test, and distribute
pharmaceutical, medical device, and/or biotechnology products and require
assistance in the commissioning and qualification of equipment and facilities and
the validation of processes. ValSource has grown to be one of the most
successful firms in the industry, employing 100+ full-time consultants and supporting
the commissioning, qualification, and validation efforts of several of the world’s
largest pharmaceutical and biotech companies.
Opportunities…
Our unique perspective on the
management of pharmaceutical A/E/C projects developed
over the years as time and again we saw client projects
completed behind schedule and over-budget, usually as a
result of one or more of the following reasons:
- No single source of current project-related
information accessible to all project team members
- Little or no supporting information for project documentation
- No centralized generation and tracking of project items like
Change Notifications, Punchlists, Action Items, RFIs, and Project Documents
- No means of identifying bottlenecks in the approval and
completion process for project items
- No ability to measure project progress or identify issues
before they became problems…
Our earliest attempts to address
these issues as they pertained to our consulting work resulted in a project
information management system we called DocuTrack. With DocuTrack we were able
to address most of the issues outlined above with some success, but our
solution lacked portability and scalability and it’s use was restricted to our
consultants and clients, thus limiting it’s usefulness in gathering information
from other project team members.
Results…
With PIMS all that has changed! PIMS – the Project
Information Management System – is a web-based application that facilitates
A/E/C project management for clients providing a single repository
of project information for all project team members.
PIMS can act as a project library, allowing owners to catalog
and classify all project documentation. Through it’s owner-defined workflows for
Change Notifications, Punchlist items, and Documents it identifies and categorizes
project items and ensures all project team members are kept up-to-date on outstanding
and upcoming deliverables. It’s personalized displays and reporting features allow
users and managers to track project progress and identify issues in the approval
and competion process before they become problems that delay project completion!
